About Us
We are a team of female identifying students from Lick-Wilmerding High School. As a team of teenage girls, we understand from personal experience what it is like to grow up as a girl with the impossible standards in our society. We intend to use our unique perspectives to break down the walls and stereotypes that society has built up around us.
In an age of Me Too, the resurgence of feminism, and increasing sexual health education in schools, we recognize that there are still unaddressed problems uniquely affecting teens. Many apps of empowerment seem to be aimed at adult women, and social media platforms are often filled with harassment or mental health detriments. We know firsthand just how confusing this transitional time is, and see the perfect opportunity to create a platform for girls to support one another during this time in their lives. A website with resources like ours can prove valuable in allowing girls to feel less alone. While girls around the world may find themselves in vastly different situations, there is still a universal female experience that unite us. With Minerva, we can harness the power of connection and mutual empowerment to create a space specially for teenage girls.
